This morning (May 24th), the 2024 Cross-border E-commerce Summit “Vietnamese Essence Takes Flight Globally” organized by Amazon Global Selling Vietnam in coordination with the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) took place in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the report “Local Sellers, Global Consumers 2022: Direct Export Opportunities through E-commerce in Vietnam” by Access Partnership, Vietnam’s export via e-commerce (EC) retail is estimated to reach 296.3 trillion VND by 2027. Despite numerous challenges, Vietnam’s EC exports continue to demonstrate strong growth potential. Over the past 5 years (2019 – 2023), five product categories including health and personal care, home, kitchen, apparel, and beauty have consistently been among the top-growing sectors from Vietnam on Amazon.
Mr. Gijae Seong – CEO of Amazon Global Selling Vietnam stated that over the past 5 years, the number of products sold by Vietnamese partners on Amazon has increased by over 300%. Additionally, the number of Vietnamese businesses achieving annual sales of $1 million on Amazon has increased tenfold, and the number of Vietnamese seller partners registering brands (Amazon Brand Registry) has increased by over 35 times. Vietnamese sellers continuously bring quality and unique products, contributing to expanding product choices for Amazon customers worldwide.
The end-of-year 2023 report from Amazon Global Selling Vietnam also revealed that over 17 million products from Vietnamese businesses were sold on Amazon in 2023, with export value increasing by 50%, and the number of seller partners increasing by 40%.
To enhance cross-border e-commerce capabilities for Vietnamese businesses, Amazon Global Selling continues to announce the second phase of the “Cross-border E-commerce: Breakthrough Era” initiative, in collaboration with the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy. Specifically, both parties will jointly implement the initiative “Industry Linkage – Growth with Cross-border E-commerce.” This program aims to support key industry organizations and associations in Vietnam, such as the Vietnam Timber and Forest Product Association (VIFOREST), the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS), the Handicraft and Wood Processing Association of Ho Chi Minh City (HAWA), and other industry associations, by providing access to digital skills, knowledge, technical resources, network connections with service providers, and domestic manufacturers to support online production and export.
